AM I TOO YOUNG FOR HIP OR KNEE REPLACEMENT?

Video Transcript

People in their 40s and 50s ask me this all the time... "aren't I too young for a hip or knee replacement?"

I'm Doctor Cynthia Kahlenberg, an orthopedic surgeon in Stamford, Connecticut... and I specialize in hip and knee replacement for active adults. Here's the truth...being 'too young' is less about your age ...it's more about how much your joint is limiting your life.

If pain is waking you at night...if it's stopping you from working, exercising, or even just playing with your kids... those are red flags.

We always recommend starting with non‐surgical options-- like targeted physical therapy, activity modification, over the counter medications, and sometimes injections. But if you've tried these and still can't do the things that matter to you-- that's when it may be time to talk about replacement.

The good news is...modern implants and techniques are designed to last for many years. Our goal isn't to slow you down-- it's to get you back to a full, active life!

If you're in your 40s, 50s, or early 60s and wondering whether it's 'too early' to think about hip or knee replacement...let's talk. Schedule a consultation with me in Stamford and we'll review your options together.
